Gosh. Well. Pitch Perfect. How about that.

Let's lead with the good: Rebel Wilson is always a fun watch. It's kind of funny despite itself at times.

It's just so uneven. Is it a gross-out college comedy? Is it romantic? Why is everyone such an asshole? Is that really what passed for "alternative" in 2012?

So I went in expecting, basically, The Martian but in outer space and with Ryan Gosling. What I got was something very different. It was cool, but it's very family friendly and quite silly. I wasn't expecting the cute alien.

My friend who had read the book said we missed out on a lot of the science that was in the book and I believe it because the science was very... strange. Enjoyed it a lot though, it was exciting, moving, funny. Great stuff.
